Just 30 years ago, the future for babies like Noor was bleak. Today, thanks to medical and scientific advances, children with Spina Bifida are living healthier and more active lives. When the spine of the fetus fails to close during the first month of pregnancy, a complex series of reactions are set in motion that affect the formation of the brain and the central nervous system. Because of the unique challenges inherent in Spina Bifida, it is imperative that we use all of our resources to unravel the mysteries of this complex condition. The Spina Bifida Association supports Young Investigator grants to advance understanding of Spina Bifida that will lead to better treatment, more effective prevention, and ultimately to a cure. We need your support to ensure that this vital research programs grows.
Research projects are now in place that one day will help to safeguard the health and quality of life for children and adults with Spina Bifida. We have funded vital research that is already yielding promising preliminary findings that will impact public health in the United States. Thousands of Americans with Spina Bifida face daily struggles and uncertain futures while solutions are within our grasp. Investing in research will ensure the health and wellbeing of those living with disabilities today and those who may be affected in the future. Please make a contribution of $1000, $500, $350, $250, or $100 today. Your generous gift will help change lives. |
