eInsights - July 15, 2008John Page Plans Expedition for Spina Bifida AwarenessIn order to raise awareness about Spina Bifida, the most common permanently disabling birth defect, John Page, founder of Climbing 4 Spina Bifida, began an 18-month expedition in June to summit all 67 peaks in New England at or above 4,000 feet. Page, whose five-year-old daughter was born with Spina Bifida, is determined to use his passion for climbing to raise public awareness about the birth defect, as well as inform the public on how Spina Bifida can be prevented. In this 18-month expedition he expects to open a lot of eyes about Spina Bifida. "I gave this a lot of thought and the more I thought about it the more I believed people would get behind me," says Page The expedition is being sponsored by Talus Outdoor Technologies. All proceeds earned through donations in support of the Climbing 4 Spina Bifida go to SBA of Massachusetts.
