World Congress

We invite authors to submit abstracts.

Deadline for Submission: Monday, September 5, 2022.

Abstract Length: 300 words


  • There is no limit to the number of abstracts an author may submit. If selected, the presenter must be one of the co-authors listed.
  • Papers may have been previously submitted to another specialty meeting; please indicate the meeting and meeting date. These papers will be considered for presentation but not
    for the investigator prize.
  • Submission of an abstract is open to anyone pursuing academic exposure of their work. You do not need to be affiliated with the Spina Bifida Association to submit an abstract.

Ownership of Work/Newness of Data: Please note, by submitting your abstract to this meeting, you are agreeing to transfer ownership of copyright for the abstract and its content to the 2023 World Congress on Spina Bifida Research and Care to enable publication of the abstract.

Investigator Prize:

  • Awards are open to all World Congress participants including graduate students, residents or fellows.
  • Three awards for the best paper (clinical or basic science).
  • The awards will be based on originality, structure, and presentation.
  • The award will be given to the presenter of the paper.
  • To be considered for the Investigator prize, the submitted abstract/manuscript must be original and not previously presented or published.
  • All award candidates must send an electronic version of their completed paper in a format suitable for publication in a journal of their choice. Authors must indicate at the time of abstract submission their interest to be considered for the award.

Notification: Notification of abstracts and the Investigator prize is November 21, 2022. An electronic version of completed selected paper is required by February 24, 2023.

Abstract format: Abstracts will be submitted on-line at:

  • The abstract language is English.
  • Title will be written in CAPITAL letters.
  • The abstract text should not exceed 300 words (tables will be judged as 50 words).
  • The abstract must consist of four paragraphs labeled BACKGROUND, METHODS, RESULTS, and CONCLUSIONS.
  • Mark the content area that best describes your abstract, from the topics listed below. The final designated content area of abstract will be determined by the Program Committee.
  • Indicate the preferred type of presentation: oral, poster or video presentation. NOTE: The final decision on format will be made by the Abstract Selection members of the Program Committee.
