Feeding and swallowing challenges can occur in young people with Spina Bifida and may impact nutrition, health, and quality of life. Elizabeth Alam, MS, CCC-SLP is a is a SpeechLanguage Pathologist with over 15 years of experience helping children with feeding, swallowing, communication, and oral motor needs. She works at Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas and also runs Speech Happens LLC, a practice focused on building confidence and communication skills. In this session, Dr. Alam will provide an overview of common feeding and swallowing concerns, signs of dysphagia, the role of the speech-language pathologist, and practical strategies to support safer, more successful mealtimes.
