SBA Young Leaders

SBA Young Leaders – We want the “Planning Committee” to name the group and define the goals and activities of the group. The Question & Answer section below is meant to provide some of the thoughts we’ve heard from young people and to stimulate discussion among the planning committee.

Q: What are SBA “Young Leaders”?

A: They are a group of young people between the ages of 16 -25. We envision this group providing education/workshops in the areas of:

● Leadership

● Advocacy

● Awareness and acceptance of individuals with disabilities

Q: Is it only about education?

A: No, we’d like to provide a sense of community, a means to socialize, and to network.

We’d potentially foresee providing the group access to thought leaders in education, medicine, research, and other professionals.

Q: What do we need to do now?

A: We are assembling a group of individuals who want to create the vision for this group.

Our goal is to have this group be, by, for, and about young individuals with Spina Bifida.

We do not want to dictate the structure, agenda, etc.

Q: Will the group meet in person?

A: For the foreseeable future, meetings will be virtual. When we can be together in person, we foresee having special events and activities within larger events, such as Teal on the Hill.
