2023 Spina Bifida Volunteer Summit – How to Get Involved and Make a Difference

The good news is that Spina Bifida Association (SBA) volunteers are incredible. You are such an important part of what we do. Your support allows SBA to be a leader in helping build a better and brighter future for all those impacted by Spina Bifida. And, if the recent Volunteer Summit is any indication, SBA volunteers just keep getting better and better!

The Volunteer Summit, held February 4, was a chance to say thank you to many volunteers and to talk about what’s on the horizon – where we need to go and how we’re going to get there.

Sara Struwe, SBA’s President and CEO, spoke about SBA’s new, three-year, strategic plan. To develop the plan, we engaged all of our key stakeholders, those living with Spina Bifida, care partners, clinicians, national and local partners and our volunteers. It’s truly a shared plan of action that clearly outlines SBA’s values and the outcomes we want to achieve with you, our volunteers, for people with Spina Bifida.  The excitement over the plan is real and growing. Together we are going to make a difference.

With  our shared plan of action as a starting point, Sara and other members of the SBA team identified key initiatives and outlined areas where your support is needed. The Volunteer Summit was such a success! Already so many of you have communicated your support and it was a fun way to see our friends (and meet some new ones), connect and get re-energized. Thank you for all you do!

If you weren’t able to participate in the Volunteer Summit, we would like to share the event with you via a recording and other material discussed during the Summit. We welcome your questions, thoughts and are always pleased to talk about our shared plan of action. We look forward to seeing you soon and thank you for all you do.
